Maximize Your Space’s Aesthetics and Looks with VitraTuff Toughened Architectural Glass.

The Two Main Properties of Glass

Two properties of glass are especially prominent and are firmly tied to this material: its transparency and its fragility.

The transparency is due to the atomic structure, i.e. its non-crystalline nature and the idiosyncrasies of the bonds within the glass itself. The lack of boundary surface in the material prevents the reflection of light in the range of visible and longwave UV-A light; the atomic structure cannot absorb this light, which means that light can pass through unhindered.

On the other hand, glass is impermeable to short-wave UV-B and UV-C light because the light energy is sufficient to vibrate the electrons in the glass; this leads to the light being absorbed within the material.

Its fragility, and above all, its sudden failure characterize glass as a typical brittle material. The maximum elongation at failure is in the range of about 0.1%. Exceeding this elastic deformability by even just a minimal amount results in sudden failure due to rupture without any “waist” forming together with shell-shaped fracture surfaces. This means that up until that point the glass behaves in an ideal elastic fashion when subjected to mechanical actions. The high proportion of silicate in the composition of the glass is responsible for this behavior; however, it is the silicate that gives the glass its hardness and strength.

Understanding the core fundamentals and applying it in manufacturing makes VitraTuff one the premium toughened glass manufacturers in Patna.

Thermal Insulation and Solar Control

Thermal insulation and solar-control measures reduce the energy consumption requirements for heating in winter and cooling in summer. In the case of thermal insulation, we distinguish between the summertime and wintertime thermal performance. The primary task of wintertime thermal performance is to limit the transmission heat losses through the building components.

Solar gains through areas of glass have a positive influence on the energy requirements during the heating period, but during the summer they contribute substantially to unwanted heating of the interior.

The energy permeability of a glazing element is specified by the total energy transmittance (g-value), which describes the ratio of the incident radiation to that which reaches the interior by way of transmission and secondary heat emissions. Besides solar tradition, the room temperature is also dependent on the following factors:

  • Size of Room

  • Orientation and size of windows

  • Type of glazing

  • Type of sun shading

  • Ventilation behavior of users

  • Internal heat sources

  • Heat capacity of components, especially internal components.

VitraTuff’s Toughened clear, reflective, and glazed units can be used in combination to make your space energy efficient in no time. When it comes to thinking long term for your next retail, office or residential space, trust the best toughened glass brands in Patna, VitraTuff.

Transmission, Opacity

Transmission describes the permeability of a material by electromagnetic radiation. Light-permeable materials generally exhibit varying degrees of transmission for various wavelengths. Within the range of visible light, the human eye perceives this variation as a coloured hue. Float glass with average iron oxide content of 0.1% for example, absorbs light primarily in the range of red light – the glass therefore takes on a greenish coloring which is particularly evident on the edge of glass. But the degree of transmission (transmittance) is only a measure of the quantitative passage of radiation, not the quality of light transmitted.

VitraTuff’s clear float glass takes care when manufacturing float glass for further toughening that glass defects are minimized when it comes to manufacturing defects. Our technical expertise in glass manufacturing makes us one of the best toughened glass companies in Patna.

Glare

Besides brightness and contrast, various types of glare play a major role when using glass in buildings. Disabling glare occurs when luminance levels within the field of vision are so great that they exceed the maximum adaptation ability of the eye and protective reflexes take effect.

Discomforting glare occurs when there is a sudden, substantial change in the luminance level within the field of vision following a prior, longer period of adaptation of the eye to a different luminance level. That is the case when we move from a dark room into bright daylight. Direct glare is caused by the relatively high luminance level of a confined area within the field of vision, e.g. a bright lamp or sunlight shin- ing on a surface. Reflected glare is triggered by reflections from light sources. The degree of glare also depends on the information content of the surface observed. Even in the case of a high luminance contrast between a window and the adjacent walls, an interesting view is perceived as less affected by glare than the luminance of a correspondingly diffuse and translucent surface

A “standing construction”, on the other hand, is supported on the floor below and transfers the vertical loads occurring to the primary structure by way of compression. Without suitable bracing measures, such a form of construction may suffer from stability problems. While the installation techniques may differ from place to place, our manufacturing quality as one of the best toughened glass brands in Patna, make sure that the glass units you receive are always in top condition.

Facade systems

Various glass facade systems, which are primarily differentiated according to the configuration of their secondary structures, have become established for applications in building. A further, secondary, distinguishing criterion is the method of supporting the panes of glass. Apart from prefabricated facades in which factory-assembled, glazed modules are installed rather like oversized windows, the following linear-type systems are in use:

Post-and-rail facade In a typical post-and-rail facade, the vertical posts and horizontal rails form a grid of square or rectangular bays. The cross-sectional sizes of the posts and rails are frequently different from each other; however, their surfaces in contact with the glass are generally flush so that the panes can be supported on all four sides. The edges of the glass are normally clamped in place by patent glazing bars concealed, in turn, behind capping strips. A multitude of standardized systems is available on the market for this popular type of facade construction.

VitraTuff offers structural glazed as well as frosted and partition glass solutions for facade systems, which makes sure that aesthetics and safety are never compromised when it comes to your space. When it comes to your space, trust VitraTuff toughened glass manufacturers in Patna.

Posts-only facade

The glass in this type of facade is supported on vertical beams, normally clamped along two sides or held by point supports. The secondary structure supports the self-weight of the facade and resists wind loads. A permanently resilient sealing material seals the visible butt joints. All manner of construction forms may be used for the vertical beams – from simple hollow steel sections to trusses and trussed arrangements. The omission of the horizontal rails can help to increase the degree of transparency of a facade compared to a post-and-rail design, which is why a posts-only facade is frequently favored for architectural reasons.

VitraTuff offers multiple solutions for posts-only facade systems with our range of toughened glass products that provide the right stability to your structure. Our experience and expertise in providing the right dimensions to your structural needs makes us one of the best toughened glass companies in Patna.

Rails-only facade In this type of facade, horizontal beams resist the horizontal loads acting on the facade. The vertical facade loads are frequently transferred to the suspended floors via vertical ties attached to the rails. The rails divide the facade horizontally, and this effect can be emphasized by placing the longer side of the glass panes horizontally as well.

Structural sealant glazing (SSG) This is a form of construction in which the glass is bonded to the supporting construction with adhesive instead of being clamped or screwed. A silicone adhesive functions as both the load bearing and sealing element in this solution. Such facades are characterized by a smooth, contourless outer skin defined only by the pattern of adhesive joints.
